All are invited to “Man and Nature: Pathways to Renewal”, a group art exhibition that explores the interdependence of living things, opening at the Asheville Area Arts Council on August 28th, 2017. The exhibit will be in in the Refinery Creator Space with an opening reception Friday, September 1st, 5-8 pm. The show runs until September 22nd.
The exhibit features the works of seven Buncombe County artists, who use both 2D and 3D media to invite discussion about a variety of timely ecological issues. The artists’ intention is to breathe life, beauty, and irony into issues that can seem dry or clinical, such as plant diversity, recycling, food chains or indicator species.
The seven artists participating in the show are: Joseph Pearson, Leslie Rowland, Roger Munch, Julie Miles, Deanna Chilian, Chuck Hunner, and Molly Sawyer. Several of the artists have worked in or have degrees in conservation-related fields, and bring that experience to their work.
